Provides early childhood programs and family resources to foster healthy outcomes for children and families in mid-Missouri. Programs include Baby Bags, Safe Cribs, Lend and Learn Toy Libraries, and many other helpful resources.

Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Lend and Learn Toy Library
A free, fun place where parents can play with their children ages 0-5, interact with other parents, and ask trained staff questions about development or other concerns. Toys are available for check out so families can extend learning and play at home. There are locations with regular hours in Columbia and Centralia, and varying hours in other locations across mid-Missouri.

Baby Bags
Appointments can be made for diaper delivery and pick up from the Columbia office. This program acts as a diaper bank and so much more. Diapers, wipes, hygiene items, and other supplies needed to provide care and comfort to children delivered along with child development and safety information. Can receive at most once a month.

Safe Cribs
This program provides a safe crib and the information families needs to safely put their child to bed and deal with sleep related issues. The crib is delivered to the family home and is followed by five additional home visits that focus on child abuse and neglect prevention and child development information.

Baby U
A home visiting program supporting families with their specific parenting needs. Using the Nurturing Parenting and Parents as Teachers models, staff walk alongside families with children prenatally through the first semester of kindergarten providing resources, education, and support.

  • Provides parent-and-child education classes

  • Home visit programs to help with creation of healthy and strong mother-child
    relationships and knowledge of child development

  • Provides Baby Bags for low-income mothers who deliver at one of the two Columbia
    hospitals (Baby Bags contain books to read to baby, safety items, smoke detector, tub thermometer, a sleeper and a notebook called “All About Baby” that tells about local resources for new mothers and babies)

  • Provides safe cribs for at risk families who lack safe sleeping accommodations for their baby

  • Provides locations where parents and children can play with toys; at each visit books are given to low income families and other incentives are offered such as free diapers.
