Love INC lost its lease for our lovingly remodeled office space on 1900 North Providence in January of this year. A search for a large enough affordable rental space turned up no possibilities. We finally made a purchase offer on a financially distressed property on Business 70 west, but were unable to secure financing. The owner however appreciated the Love INC model and made efforts to help us occupy the building. We moved in to the upper level for about the same rent we had been paying at our former space. Two months later the owner lost his financing and we were offered the building at another greatly reduced price. We now own 4200 square feet of space for a smaller monthly payment (per square foot) than the rent at our old location
Our new space has quickly been filled with volunteers and new opportunities to serve our neighbors. The upper level houses our clearinghouse, administrative offices and kitchen. Our lower level space provides rooms for life coaching, budget counseling, job search, GED tutoring, counseling and group meetings, The Caring People (single mom support group network, and currently hosts support groups for refugees, teens and children.
We’ve had dozens of friends pitch in to make much-needed repairs and improve the space. The Community United Methodist men’s group and Joe Daniel installed new siding, Fairview Church of Christ removed trees, Prosperous Journey residents provided exterior painting, John Williams did carpentry, and Pat McMurry installed a new roof. Look for the bright blue roof across from Cosmo Park and pay us a visit in our new space!
